Since forming in February 2020, TRACE architecture have been appointed to undertake and deliver a wide range of projects across the North of England, forming strong working relationships with clients, consultants and contractors throughout the process.

We create beautifully crafted buildings and spaces which are tailored to suit the specific needs and requirements of the client and end user. A client driven approach is often fundamental in achieving this goal, and we never underestimate the importance of this.

We believe in architecture and design which is derived through simplicity and clear design rationale, and we strive to strike the balance between form and functionality. This leads to design led, high quality architecture and innovative design solutions, which are considerate of and compatible within their context and wider surroundings. Where possible, we aim to consider and integrate environmental principles into the strategic design of a scheme, rather than approach these as an afterthought.

Alistair Williams · Director · Architect

Alistair is director and founder of TRACE architecture, and a qualified ARB registered architect.

Alistair initially trained at the renowned University of Sheffield School of Architecture where he gained a BA(Hons) - Architecture degree in 2006. Following two years of working in architectural practice, Alistair went on to gain his Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree at the Manchester School of Architecture in 2010, with a specialism in bio-climatic and environmental design. In 2014 Alistair then completed his RIBA part iii Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture to qualify and practice as an Architect.

Alistair has a wealth of experience from many years of working within various highly regarded architectural practices in and around Manchester, including many years spent at an AJ100 top ranked Practice in PRP. During his time working in practice Alistair has gained broad experience across a wide range of project typologies, sectors and architectural design disciplines including; residential (private and public sector), education, leisure, healthcare, and commercial.
